Winter Camp 2010 FAQ
Winter Camp 2010 FAQ
*Frequently Asked Questions*
Where is Winter Camp?
Winter camp is at Trinity Pines Conference Center in Trinity, TX. www.trinitypines.org. Trinity Pines will not be able to get messages to your student, but you can contact Mark or Adam in the case of an emergency. (Mark 281-731-7096, Adam 602-509-0600)
What time do we need to be at church on Saturday?
Check in begins at the North End at 8:00am on Saturday, January 16th. Busses will leave promptly at 9:00am.
We will return to church Monday, January 18th at 11:00am.
Why does winter camp cost $140?
Student Ministry always strives to keep the cost of winter camp low, but the rising costs of transportation and camp lodging has forced us to raise prices. The costs covers food and lodging provided by the camp, transportation to and from camp, bringing in guest leaders for the weekend, and allows us to pay the way of our adult leaders to come for the weekend. Last year, winter camp cost $150 per camper. Thanks to some careful budgeting, and cost saving measures, we have been able to lower the overall cost of camp to $140 this year.
What does my student need to bring to camp?
Bible, pen, journal, modest outdoor clothing (think warm!), tennis shoes, towels, and toiletries, etc. Bedding is provided. We have many outdoor activities planned for both afternoons of camp, it is recommended to bring some clothes that students could get dirty and play in. Depending on rain, it is often muddy and wet during camp.
Students should always bring a good attitude to camp!
What shouldn’t my student bring to camp?
iPods, Dangerous or illegal substances (drugs, alcohol, cigarettes), weapons, prank materials, family heirlooms, precious metals/stones, the family cat, anything you couldn't live without!
Why can't I bring my iPod?
it is the desire of Fairfield Baptist Church Student Ministry, to help student connect with God and one another. It is difficult to connect with other students with a pair of head phones in your ears. While we encourage students to listen to Godly music at home and in the car, we want to discourage the use of iPods during Winter Camp. It will be one less distraction, and one less thing to get lost, broken or stolen! (Fairfield Baptist Church is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen items!)
Can I bring my cell phone?
We know that we are living in a connected world. And having a cell phone is an important way for parents and students to stay in touch. For that reason, we allow cell phones at camp. HOWEVER... we do not want those cell phones to be a distraction. Winter Camp is a time to unplug from Cypress, and the world back home for the weekend... connect with God and friends. Student's can't do that effectively if they are constantly texting, or talking to friends back home. If a student's cell phone becomes a distraction during the weekend, leadership will gladly hold a student's phone for them until the trip back home on Monday morning. In case of emergency, Mark and Adam's cell phone numbers are listed on the first question!
Will there be a camp nurse?
Yes! We will have a camp nurse, supplied with all the necessary things to take care of minor cuts, bruises and headaches. If you are taking prescription medicine, there will be a place to drop those medicines off with the nurse during check-in on Saturday morning. Prescription meds need to be in the original container, and have filled out Medication Permission Form (attached to the bottom of this page for download).
Will I have fun at camp?
What do you think.... :)
