Katie Dufour

STUDENT INTERN

Hi! My name is Katie Dufour, and I am currently working on my Master of Social Work degree through the University of Houston. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from St. Edward’s University in 2006, and after graduating college I began my professional career working in the social services field. From there, I went on to study at the University of Texas at San Antonio, completing my Master of Science degree in Justice Policy. After completing my studies at UTSA, I worked in the criminal justice field for 8 years. During that time, I became inspired by the therapists I worked with and discovered providing treatment to others was a better fit for me due to my compassionate and empathetic nature. I am so excited about where God has placed me, as I now get to learn from the wonderful treatment providers here at Apollos. My professional and personal experience has provided me with a deep understanding of a wide variety of mental health issues- namely depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, substance abuse, and post-partum mental health issues. My counseling perspective is rooted in attachment theory, and I believe a person-centered approach to treatment fosters a safe space for individuals to express their thoughts, fears, beliefs, and emotions. Every individual has unique life experiences that have molded them into the person they are today. I vow to be a genuine agent of healing and provide a safe, judgement-free space for all my clients.

    Fun Stuff

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and creating new recipes, as well as spending time with my husband and two young daughters. I also love to read and learn about the Enneagram, a tool I have learned about through recent spiritual transformation work with SOULWELL Ministries.
