Nicole Garrett
COUNSELOR, MABC, LPC-A
My hope is to empower you to be all that God intends for you to be. I see the path to healing and wholeness as a journey and not a destination. My approach to counseling is a collaborative process between the client and the counselor. I work primarily from a person-centered approach utilizing other therapies and techniques as they are helpful. I seek to provide a safe place and a climate of understanding and acceptance for you to be able to courageously work through life’s difficulties. I see Jesus as the ultimate healer and consider it a privilege to be able to come along side you on the healing journey.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Through my work of over ten years leading groups for women struggling after an abortion I first felt called to pursue a career in counseling and I now have a Master of Arts in Biblical counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. I am a Christian counselor integrating the Bible and psychology. I also have experience working with teens in Residential Treatment Centers who have experienced complex trauma. I especially have a heart for working with people who have experienced sexual trauma and abuse. Additionally, I am a certified RelateStrong facilitator from Boone Center for the Family.
Fun Stuff
I have been married to my husband for 17 years and together we have 2 kids. I love nature and enjoy spending time outdoors. In my free time I like to exercise-walk, lift weights, take classes and yoga. I love the energizing effect that it has on me.
