5-Day Devotional: Sealed and Significant
Day 1: You Are Sealed and Significant
Reading: Ephesians 1:13-14 -- In this passage, Paul describes how believers are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit upon trusting in the gospel, with the Spirit serving as a guarantee of the inheritance to come.
Devotional: The world runs on status games. Marketers tell you that you are not enough. Culture tells you to prove your worth. But God does something entirely different -- he seals you. The seal is not earned through performance or reputation. It is pressed upon you by the hand of God himself at the moment you receive Christ. This seal declares your significance not because of anything you have accomplished, but because of what Jesus accomplished on your behalf. Today, resist the pull of status-driven thinking. Instead, rest in the truth that God has marked you as his own, and that marking does not fade.
Reflection Question: In what areas of your life are you still trying to earn significance rather than receiving it from God?
Day 2: You Belong to God
Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 -- Paul writes that God is the one who establishes believers in Christ, has anointed them, placed his seal upon them, and given his Spirit in their hearts as a guarantee.
Devotional: Belonging is one of the deepest longings of the human heart. Every person in this room, as the sermon reminds us, carries an inner teenager searching for a place to fit. But the gospel answers that longing at its root. When you are in Christ, you do not merely belong to a community or a tradition -- you belong to God. He has anointed you. He has placed his mark upon you. The same God who anointed kings and priests in the Old Testament has anointed you through his Spirit. You are not an outsider looking in. You are claimed, known, and kept.

Day 3: The Gift You Cannot Earn
Reading: Romans 6:23 -- Paul contrasts the consequence of sin, which is death, with the free gift of God, which is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Devotional: The sermon offers a striking illustration: imagine standing before a judge with seventy thousand traffic violations and arguing that your good driving outweighs your offenses. Every honest person knows how that ends. Yet this is precisely how most people approach God -- tallying their good deeds against their failures and hoping the scales tip in their favor. The gospel dismantles this entirely. Salvation is not a reward for the sufficiently righteous. It is a gift extended to the genuinely repentant. The judge steps down from the bench and offers to pay your debt. The only question that remains is whether you will receive it.

Day 4: The Certainty of God's Love in Christ
Reading: Romans 8:38-39 -- Paul declares that nothing in all creation -- not death, life, angels, rulers, present circumstances, future events, powers, height, depth, or anything else -- is able to separate believers from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus the Lord.
Devotional: The sermon asks a penetrating question: if God were to ask you why he should let you into heaven, what would you say? For many people, even those who attend church faithfully, the honest answer reveals uncertainty. But the love described in Romans 8 is not conditional or fragile. It is inseparable. It does not waver based on your performance on a given day. The seal of God, once pressed upon you, does not lift. The guarantee of the Spirit, once given, does not expire. Today, let the certainty of God's love in Christ replace every anxious calculation about whether you are good enough. You are not good enough -- and you are fully loved.

Day 5: God Is Present and He Is Singing
Reading: Zephaniah 3:17 -- The prophet describes the Lord as a mighty savior who dwells among his people, rejoices over them with gladness, quiets them with his love, and exults over them with joyful singing.
Devotional: The sermon paints a vivid picture: God is not a distant authority waiting for you to fail. He is the one sprinting to your car window, pounding on the glass, unable to wait another moment to tell you that you matter to him. Zephaniah 3:17 is one of the most tender verses in all of Scripture -- a God who sings over his people. Many believers live as though God is perpetually disappointed in them, scanning the horizon for their next failure. But the sealed child of God lives under a different reality. God is near. God is glad. And God is singing. Lean in today and listen.
