5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide: Truth Wrapped in Love
Day 1: Created With Purpose
Reading: Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:18-24
Devotional: God did not create humanity by accident. Every detail of human design reflects the intentionality of a Creator who builds with purpose. Just as an instruction manual gives meaning to scattered pieces, Scripture gives meaning to our lives, our relationships, and our identity. When we drift from God's design, not out of malice but out of confusion, we end up assembling our lives without the guide. Today, pause and ask: where in my life have I been trying to put the pieces together without consulting the One who made me? Return to the design. Return to the Designer.
Day 2: Truth That Does Not Wound
Reading: John 4:1-26
Devotional: Jesus sat with a woman the world had written off. He did not ignore her failures, but he did not lead with them either. He led with presence, with curiosity, with an offer of something better. The result was not shame but transformation. She ran back to her entire town and brought them to meet him. This is the model: truth spoken inside the walls of genuine love produces life-changing results. Ask yourself today whether your approach to difficult conversations leads people toward Jesus or away from him. Truth without love closes doors. Truth wrapped in love opens entire towns.
Day 3: The Weight of a Label
Reading: Matthew 1:1-6; Joshua 2:1-14
Devotional: Rahab was known by one word: harlot. That word followed her name like a shadow. But God does not leave people defined by their worst moments. In the genealogy of Jesus, she appears simply as Rahab, ancestor of kings. God has a long history of removing the labels the world assigns and replacing them with something new. Whatever word has followed your name, whatever failure has become your identity in your own mind or in the minds of others, God is in the business of renaming. You are not your past. You are his.
Day 4: Such Were Some of You
Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Romans 8:1-4
Devotional: The list in 1 Corinthians 6 is uncomfortable because it is inclusive. Sexual immorality, greed, drunkenness, and dishonesty all appear together. None of us escapes it entirely. But the passage does not end with condemnation. It ends with a declaration: washed, sanctified, justified. These are not things we earn. They are things God does. The same grace that covers one sin covers them all. The same Spirit that transforms one life transforms every life surrendered to him. Do not read this passage as a wall that keeps people out. Read it as a door that God has swung wide open.
Day 5: Weeping With Those Who Weep
Reading: Romans 12:9-21; John 11:32-35
Devotional: When Jesus arrived at the tomb of Lazarus, he already knew what he was about to do. He knew resurrection was moments away. And yet he wept. He did not bypass grief in order to get to the miracle. He entered the pain first. This is the posture God calls us to carry into a broken world. Before we speak, we sit. Before we correct, we grieve alongside. The most powerful witness we can offer a hurting world is not a perfectly constructed argument but a genuinely present heart. Go into this week ready to weep with those who weep. The gospel will follow.
